CLEANING FLOOR  |  ALL SHIFTS
Finish steel castings safely and accurately to meet production and quality standards.
American Steel Castings is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Chipper/Grinder to remove excess metal, smooth surfaces, and prepare steel castings for inspection and further processing.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Use chipping hammers, grinders, and other finishing tools to remove scale and surface imperfections from slag pots and other castings. Inspect finished work and support safe, efficient foundry operations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Operate pneumatic chipping hammers, hand grinders, swing-frame grinders, and related finishing equipment.
  • Remove scale, and other excess metal from castings.
  • Grind and blend casting surfaces to required contours and finish specifications without damaging the casting.
  • Visually inspect castings for surface defects and verify completed work meets quality requirements.
  • Safely position and handle castings using approved material-handling equipment and procedures.
  • Inspect tools and equipment, report defects, and keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Chip and grind from a ladder or other approved platform.
  • Chip and grind while standing, sitting, kneeling, or working in other required positions.
  • Perform air arcing as needed.
  • Clean and maintain required respirator equipment.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Ability to safely use grinders, chipping hammers, and other hand or power tools; related industrial experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, identify surface defects, and maintain consistent quality.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in a foundry environment and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Dependable attendance, attention to detail, and commitment to safe work practices.
