Build, repair, and support the patterns that keep foundry production moving.
American Steel Castings is seeking a dependable, hands-on Pattern Utility who enjoys practical problem-solving, working with tools, and supporting safe, efficient foundry operations.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Assess, repair, and maintain foundry patterns using wood, styrofoam, dura glass, and urethane. Assist with mold and core setups, dimensional inspections, layout work, and general pattern shop support.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Repair foundry casting patterns and core boxes using wood, styrofoam, dura glass, and urethane materials.
  • Use the tag system to verify whether patterns are ready for repair or use.
  • Assist the foundry team with mold and core setups as needed.
  • Inspect castings and record dimensional checks according to customer specifications.
  • Lay out, measure, and record burn lines for Caterpillar Swing Rack castings.
  • Maintain pattern shop equipment and complete wooden job requests for the mill as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and interpret drawings and prints.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic hand and power tools, including drills, saws, and sanders.
  • Woodworking experience and familiarity with woodworking equipment preferred.
